About the 2024 Virginia Mayors Institute
The 2024 Virginia Mayors Institute will be a one day event held Sunday October 13 at the Embassy Suites Oceanfront Resort in Virginia Beach (4101 Atlantic Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451). Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. with breakfast from 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Programming runs until 4:00 p.m. Attendeess are invited to the VML Reception and Awards Banquet starting at 5:00 p.m. at the adjacent Marriott Oceanfront.
Program
Learn how you can meet the needs of a new generation of citizens at the Virginia Mayors Institute. Each year, the program explores issues essential to the responsibilities of mayors and vice mayors as local government leaders. For 2024, the Mayors Institute will be emceed by expert facilitator Matt Lehrman who will lead attendees through a collaborative exercise in forward-focused leadership entitled "Futurecast".
"The future is unknowable, but it’s incredibly malleable. So, let’s elevate our focus beyond today’s worries and constraints and recognize how the world (and our communities) may soon be different. In a dynamic and 100% interactive exercise, local leaders will inspire each other to identify a variety of responsibilities and opportunities along with the leadership qualities necessary to bring them about."

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PRICING: Rooms at the Marriott Oceanside and Embassy Suites Oceanside start at $159/night. Rooms at the Historic Cavalier (across the street) start at $299/night. However, when you reserve your room, a $25 resort fee will be added to the price. This fee will be waived when you check-in to your room(s).
