Virginia Municipal League Installs New Board of Directors

Virginia Municipal League Installs New Board of Directors

The membership of the Virginia Municipal League (VML) recently installed new officers and members to its Board of Directors. The new leadership was elected Monday, Oct. 14, 2024, at the league’s annual conference which was held in Virginia Beach this year. 

Steve Trivett, Mayor for the Town of Ashland became president. Prior to that, Mayor Trivett was the President-Elect.

Dwayne Tuggle, Mayor for the Town of Amherst, was elected President-Elect. He was previously Vice President.

Kelly Burk, Mayor for the Town of Leesburg was elected Vice-President. She was previously an at-large member.

Elected as at-large members of the Board were Bill Rush, Manager, Town of Marion; Robert Wood, Manager, Town of Rocky Mount; and Curtis Bethany, Vice Mayor City of Newport News. Vice Mayor Bethany is currently the youngest person serving on the Board of Directors.

Continuing as at-large members on the Board are Stephanie Moon-Reynolds, Councilmember City of Roanoke; Robert C. Ike Jr., Councilmember City of Chesapeake; Dr. Amelia Ross-Hammond, Councilmember City of Virginia Beach; and Dan Hoffman, Manager City of Winchester.

The Board of Directors is rounded out by Immediate Past President A.D. Chuckie Reid, Vice Mayor Town of Farmville; Urban Section Chair Lisa Lucas-Burke, Councilmember City of Portsmouth; City Section Chair Letty Hardi, Mayor City of Falls Church; and Town Section Chair Phil Miskovic, Manager Town of Crewe. The section chairs were elected during section meetings held earlier in the day.

VML’s Board of Directors oversees the activities of the league. Representatives of the Board of Directors must be elected or appointed officials of a city, town, or county that is a member of VML.
